Los hermanos Christoph y Florin Schmidt utilizan elementos de la cultura popular, animales y objetos cotidianos con formas tridimensionales e impactantes para sus creaciones. Crecieron en el centro de Hamburgo, la segunda ciudad más importante de Alemania, en el norte del país. Un buen lugar para entrar en contacto con muchas subculturas. Así, empezaron como graffiteros (firmando como Qbrk y Nerd), y hoy en día exponen a nivel internacional.
Su trabajo abarca tanto murales al aire libre como exposiciones en galerías, además de crear impresionantes construcciones artísticas. Todo bajo la premisa de hacerlo con libertad y bajo su propia iniciativa. Así lo expresan ellos mismos: “No hay nadie que nos dicte las normas”.
Aparte de su arte, los Low Bros tienen, junto a un buen amigo y diseñador, un estudio multidisciplinar de arte y diseño constituido como una especie de empresa familiar, ON & ON. En este espacio ofrecen a sus clientes soluciones visuales, siempre desde el punto de vista del diseño, que, según dicen, les ayuda a ampliar su horizonte de muchas maneras. “Lo hacemos todo juntos, intercambiamos opiniones y reflexiones sobre cada obra. Es importante tener un reparto equilibrado del trabajo, pero durante el proceso conjunto, cada uno de nosotros encuentra intuitivamente su propio campo”, comentan.
ENG: Between canvas, wood paintings and street art, here are the creations of The Low Bros, a German duo created by the two brothers Christoph and Florin Schmidt, aka Qbrk and Nerd. These two former graffiti writers based in Berlin now condense their inspirations into colorful pop and geometric compositions, combining street art, skateboarding and the aesthetics of the 80s.
When they where children the two brothers loved to draw and invented their own little stories and fantasy worlds while playing in the backyard or being on the countryside. You’ll still find both influences, the urbanic and natural in their today’s works.
Later they started to paint graffiti, where also co-founders of the “TPL” Crew and “The Weird”, which was founded together with Nychos, Cone,Hr. v. Bias, Dxtr, Rookie, Look and Vidam from Peachbeach and Frau Isa. All times the brothers painted together, but it took a while till they began to create their characters together and developed their own, common, geometric style. Ever since they go by the name Low Bros.
