Hablar a través del arte es un acto natural para Alexandra Levasseur. La artista canadiense nos conmueve con su increíble propuesta pictórica. En ella logra una nueva dimensión de lo onírico, ejecutando escenas protagonizadas por figuras femeninas que exploran estados de profunda soledad, deseo, tristeza y bipolaridad. Esta búsqueda surrealista da pie a un trabajo con diversos símbolos universales que intentan extrapolar la relación entre cuerpo y espíritu y cómo el contexto social en el que estamos inmersos influye en nuestros estados de ánimo. “Represento el planeta como un organismo único donde nada es destruido y todo sufre transformaciones constantes”, dice Levasseur, respecto a sus asombrosas imágenes hechas con lápiz sobre madera. ENG: Oneiric and poetic Alexandra Levasseur’s work puts into scene tormented feminine figures in dream-like landscapes. As she tells us, she believes that women still remain the symbol for the expression of universal emotions such as love, fear, anguish and unrequited desire which are the central themes for her art. Alexandra Levasseur explores both, the loneliness and the bipolarity of the human state of existence through the representation of memories. “I’m looking for relations between the comfort of the body and the quietness of the spirit and how the surrounding environment can affect states of mind. This has pushed me to further my thoughts on the idea of relationships as the basic component of all that exists and the life itself.”
