Nicolas Jaar presenta su nuevo directo en Sónar 2017, en un momento especialmente dulce y significativo de su trayectoria artística, marcada por la publicación del reciente y muy alabado “Sirens”. Jaar no tiene miedo alguno en plantear poderosos contrastes en sus nuevas composiciones, basculando entre el silencio y el ruido, manteniendo un pie en lo acústico y el otro en lo sintético y difuminando géneros (blues, ambient, cumbia, noise, house) con tracks largos y sinuosos. Tampoco elude el comentario político ni la escapada poética, liberado de presiones y facturando un disco cautivador y profundo, que confirma el talento que siempre ha atesorado. Jaar llamó rápidamente la atención desde sus primeros tracks (“Time For Us”, “El Bandido”, “Mi Mujer”) y dio la campanada con “Space Is Only Noise” (2011, año de su primera actuación en Sónar), un álbum de debut de largo alcance emocional con el que encontró un sonido muy suyo, entre el house lento, el downtempo contemporáneo y el jazz nocturno, conquistando por el camino a miles de fans en todo el mundo. Desde entonces hasta “Sirens” ha pasado mucho tiempo, pero el joven genio chileno no ha dejado de moverse, bien sea con Darkside, con la fundación de su sello Other People, remezclando a Brian Eno, grabando una nueva versión de la banda sonora de “Pomegranates” (filme de culto soviético del año 69) o publicando la serie de maxis “Nymphs”, precedentes directos de “Sirens”. 2016 marca su regreso: el momento perfecto, pues, para verle de nuevo sobre el escenario.

ENG: Nicolas Jaar will present his new live show at Sónar 2017 in the midst of a particularly successful and significant moment in his artistic career, marked by the recent release of his highly acclaimed album “Sirens”. Jaar is not afraid to include powerful contrasts in his new compositions, swaying between silence and noise, with one foot in the acoustic and the other firmly planted in the synthetic, thereby blurring genres (blues, ambient, cumbia, noise, house) in his long and winding tracks. Nor does he shy from political commentary or poetic licence. Instead, free from external pressures, he has produced a captivating and deep album, which only serves to further underline his precocious talent. Jaar quickly drew critical attention with his early tracks (“Time For Us”…), and also struck a chord with “Space Is Only Noise”. Released in 2011 on his emotive debut album he discovered his own sound – somewhere between slow house, contemporary downtempo and nocturnal jazz – and won over the hearts and minds of thousands of fans around the world in the process. His long awaited new album “Sirens” took its time to arrive, but the young Chilean genius has not stopped working in the interim, both in Darkside, and on his own label Other People, as well as remixing Brian Eno, recording a new version of the soundtrack to “Pomegranates” (a cult Soviet film from 1969), and releasing the “Nymphs” series of singles, direct precedents to “Sirens». Following his triumphant return, Sónar 2017 will be the perfect opportunity to see him on stage.
