Ana Quiroga y Uge Pañeda vuelven a Sónar este año con un nuevo y esperadísimo disco bajo el brazo, que presumiblemente verá la luz pocas semanas antes del arranque del festival. Un disco del que tenemos ya algunos detalles reveladores: su título por ejemplo, “Bastet”, nombre de una diosa de la mitología egipcia estrechamente vinculada a la música, a la cual los humanos debían agasajar bailando y tocando para mantener adormecido su lado más salvaje. Sabemos también que lo han grabado entre Estocolmo (en los míticos estudios EMS), Malmö y su propio laboratorio asturiano, La Cueva y que siguen trabajando en procesos como la manipulación de voces y las grabaciones de campo. Su última actuación en Sónar fue muy bien recibida y elogiada por todo el mundo, y no hay una excusa mejor que nuevas composiciones para tenerlas de nuevo entre nosotros. Además, tendrán el apoyo en directo de las imágenes de Pedro Maia, que forman parte esencial de su nuevo show.

Ana y Uge empezaron hace ya unos cuantos años su aventura artística bajo el nombre de Las CasiCasiotone, proyecto que tenía el punk sintético y el electrohouse como punto de partida. Pronto fueron refinando sus métodos de producción y bajando el tempo de las composiciones, dando forma a un ambient físico y expresivo que llegaría a su punto culminante con el fichaje para el prestigioso sello austríaco Mego, y la publicación del álbum “d/evolution”. Ese trabajo, uno de los más notables de la electrónica producida en España en esta última década, hablaba sobre las paradojas de la relación entre el hombre y su entorno, y mostraba la importancia que juegan en su música los sonidos y los paisajes de su Asturias natal. Tras el disco de remezclas, varios mixes (siempre altamente estimulantes), bandas sonoras, música para instalaciones y conciertos cada vez más sólidos, 2017 marca el año de su definitivo regreso discográfico. Y, por supuesto, también de su nueva visita a Sónar.

ENG: Ana Quiroga and Uge Pañeda return to Sónar in 2017 with their highly anticipated album, which is expected to be released a few weeks prior to the festival. Some album details have already been revealed: its title, for example, “Bastet”, is the name of an Ancient Egyptian goddess, closely linked to music, who required humans to entertain her by dancing and touching in order to keep her wild side in check. We also know they recorded the album in Stockholm (in the legendary EMS studios) and Malmö, as well as in their own Asturian laboratory ‘La Cueva’; where they are still working on processes like voice manipulation and field recordings. Their previous performance at Sónar in 2015 was extremely well received, and there is no better excuse than new compositions for them to return to Sónar in 2017. Also, they will have live support with images from Pedro Maia, which are an essential part of their new show.

Ana and Uge first began their artistic adventure a few years ago under the name Las CasiCasiotone, a project that had synthetic punk and electrohouse as its starting point. They soon honed their production techniques, reducing composition tempos, shaping a physical and expressive atmosphere that would reach its culmination upon their signing to the prestigious Austrian label Mego for their LP “d/evolution”. This piece of work, one of the most notable Spanish electronic productions over the last decade, discussed the paradoxes in the relationship between man and the environment, as well as referencing and drawing inspiration from the landscape and sounds of their native Asturias. Following a remix album, several mixes (always highly engaging), soundtracks, music for installations and increasingly popular concerts, 2017 will be the definitive year for their next record, and, of course, their return to Sónar.
