Nicola Costantino (Rosario, 1964). En veinte años de producción su obra fue evolucionando desde la escultura, la vestimenta, los objetos mecánicos e instalaciones a la fotografía y la videoinstalación. El cuerpo es el eje constante en su campo de investigación, la artista hace referencia a su tratamiento violento a través del consumo y de la moda. En la última década, Costantino se incluye de forma autorreferencial en sus trabajos de soporte fotográfico y videoarte. Encarna escenas de la historia del arte y personajes paradigmáticos femeninos, construyendo el sujeto de la imagen desde lo perfomático y actoral en cuidadas puestas escenográficas. La manufactura de sus objetos y las imágenes cautivan un sentido agudo de belleza, despertando a la vez cierta atmósfera de incomodidad difícil de resolver.
Algunos de sus últimos proyectos destacados son Rapsodia Inconclusa (Colección de Arte Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat, 2015), Eva–Argentina. ENG: Nicola Costantino (Rosario, 1964). In twenty years of production her work has evolved from sculpture, clothing, mechanical objects and installations to photography and videoinstallation. The body is the constant focus of her field of investigation, and the artist refers to the violent treatment it receives at the hands of consumption and fashion. Over the last decade, Costantino includes herself autoreferentially in her photographic and video art production. She portrays scenes of art history and paradigmatic female characters, constructing the subject of the image on the basis of performance and acting in careful scenographies. The manufacture of her objects and the images capture an acute sense of beauty, provoking at the same time a certain atmosphere of discomfort that is hard to resolve.
