Un trío compuesto por Frankie Broyles, ex-guitarrista de Deerhunter, que junto a Philip Frobos y Billy Mitchell, ambos del grupo Carnivores, tocan post punk, pop y lo-fi de toques bailables basados en el new wave. El pasado de Broyles como miembro de Deerhunter queda patente en el sonido indie de la banda pero consiguen ir más allá al mezclarlo con tintes clásicos que recuerdan a bandas como Devo o Wire. Lo mejor del final de los 70’s y principios de los 80’s añadido en su dosis justa. Su música también bebe mucho de Television, Gary Numan, Iggy Pop en su faceta de solista y la energía de los primeros Buzzcoks. El álbum debut de estos tipos se llama “Deluxe” y salió a la venta el pasado 8 de julio a través de Trouble in Mind. Omni han editado un primer trabajo con un puñado de buenas canciones punk rebajadas con pop, el combo perfecto para todos los gustos.

Omni are a new band from Atlanta, Georgia featuring former members of Deerhunter/Balkans (Frankie Broyles on guitar) and Carnivores (Philip Frobos on bass/vocals and Billy Mitchell on drums). They’ve released two great singles (‘Wire’ & ‘Afterlife’) off their debut album Deluxe which comes out in July. Deluxe is an extremely raw record that calls back to the post punk and new wave era of the late 70s and early 80s. Angular and intricate guitar riffs mixed with an infectious rhythm section make it impossible not to move your body while listening. Omni have a refreshing lo-fi sound that doesn’t hide behind the use of effects or studio trickery. Instead, they rely on capturing the perfect performance in its rawest form and deliver it straight to your ear.
