“Mis pinturas son un reflejo de la realidad. Yo no pinto con el fin de registrar la realidad con una perspectiva específica o papel, sino para evocar pensamientos y preguntas del espectador a reflexionar. A través de mis pinturas he estudiado durante mucho tiempo el individuo y la posibilidad de su existencia, su carácter, origen, límites, etc. Puedo pintar temas que, por debajo de la superficie, explorar las relaciones de poder, el comportamiento, la identidad, los marcos culturales de referencia, la moral y la ética. Mis más recientes pinturas contienen referencias a la situación política en el mundo. Diversos conflictos, guerras, crisis económicas, la avaricia y el abuso de los derechos humanos que amenazan la estabilidad de nuestras sociedades y de los derechos humanos. Las generaciones futuras no deben ser privados de la posibilidad de un buen futuro, debido a nuestra ignorancia. La capacidad para sentir empatía no es siempre evidente, pero sin embargo es tal vez la más importante característica humana.”
ENG: My paintings are a reflection of reality. The invisible emotional wavelength is mixed with recognisable fragments creating images of the complex union between reality and the subconscious. I do not paint in order to record reality with a specific perspective or role, but rather to evoke thoughts and questions for the viewer to reflect upon. Through my paintings I have long studied the individual and the possibility his or her existence, their character, origin, limits, etc. I paint topics which, beneath the surface, explore power relations, behaviour, identity, cultural frames of reference, morality, and ethics.
My most recent paintings contain references to the once again intensified political situation in the world. Various conflicts, wars, economic crises, short-sighted economic greed, and the abuse of human rights threaten the stability of our societies and human rights. Generations to come should not be deprived of the possibility of a good future due to our ignorance. The ability to feel empathy is not always self-evident but nevertheless is perhaps the most important human characteristic.
