Etam Cru es el nombre elegido por un dúo de artistas del graffiti llamados Bezt (Mateusz Gapski) y Sainer (Przemek Blejzyk). Ambos se graduaron en la Academia de Bellas Artes en ?ódz, la tercera ciudad más poblada de Polonia. Hoy ambos trabajan como profesionales independientes que se expresan entre murales, lienzos y diseño gráfico con un enfoque orientado a las ilustraciones y retratos. Etam Cru disfruta representando objetos reales y figuras humanas en contextos inesperados. De este modo, el dúo de artistas invita al espectador a visitar su propio mundo de imaginación, donde el significado de las cosas nunca está estrictamente definido.
Titulado Galimatias, el nuevo trabajo de Bezt y Sainer en Thinkspace Gallery LA consiste en piezas sobre lona, lino, madera y papel pintados con acrílico, grafito, tinta y spraypaint. El título de la demostración viene de francés, ”galimatías» o «tonterías.» Esto se relaciona con la tendencia de los artistas a crear obras que no llevan mayor significado o simbolismo, estrictamente por su valor estético dejando al espectador interpretar y experimentar. Sus pinturas y dibujos se inspiran en sus vidas y sus intereses, nada de recuerdos de la infancia, más bien experiencias emocionales, historias, letras de canciones, momentos simples que se pegan en la mente. Pintadas con una estética reconocible las imágenes se caracterizan con numerosos elementos recurrentes como cráneos cuadrados, cabezas de muñeco de nieve, motivos florales, patos de goma, animales y más. El efecto de captar el tiempo de congelación o acción, probablemente es el siguiente aspecto fácilmente apreciable, que añade una sensación de ensueño casi inquietante a sus trabajos.

They both graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in ?ódz and work today as freelancers expressing themselves between murals, canvases and graphic design with a focus on illustrations and portraits. Etam Cru enjoys to depict real objects and human figures in unexpected contexts. In doing so, the artist duo invites the viewer to their very own world of imagination, where meaning is never strictly defined. Contemplators are encouraged to step into Etam’s surreal stories and develop them according to his or her individual liking.
Entitled Galimatias, the new body of work from Bezt & Sainer in Thinkspace Gallery LA consists of canvas, linen, wood and paper pieces painted with acrylic, graphite, ink, and spraypaint. A full house and an abundance of red dots proved the anticipation of this show was well deserved. The title of the show comes French word for “gibberish” or “nonsense.” This relates to artists’ tendency to create works that carry no deeper meaning or symbolism, made strictly for their aesthetic value and left to the viewer to interpret and experience. Their paintings and drawings are inspired by their lives and interests, depicting anything from childhood memories, emotional experiences, stories, song lyrics, to simple moments that stick in the mind. Painted with a recognizable aesthetic, the imagery features numerous recurring elements such as squared skulls, snowman heads, floral patterns, levitating head gear, rubber ducks, animals, and more. The time freezing or action capturing effect is probably the next aspect easily noticeable, which adds a dreamy, almost haunting feel to their work.
